JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Entergy Mississippi crews are helping with relief efforts during the 2024 hurricane season.

The crews just completed helping with relief efforts in Virginia after Hurricane Helene. More than 270 workers were dispatched to assist in restoring power.

Jerry Wilson, Jr., Entergy’s senior manager for Distribution Operations, said the aftermath of the storm showed the importance of their work.

“Even in Virginia, it was right across the North Carolina line, and I’m just going to be honest with you, some of the videos don’t do this thing justice. It was just about like we saw it, you know, in Katrina back in ’05, you know, you see the pictures. But once you got to ground here, you see it completely different. So, I mean, you see the videos and pictures of the road being washed out or what a showing of before and after pictures. I mean, it just makes it surreal once you’re standing there,” Wilson said.

Entergy crews are now staging in Georgia in preparation to respond to Hurricane Milton once it makes landfall in Florida.
