Editor’s note: The following story has been updated with new information from the Scott County coroner that corrects the victim’s age.
UPDATE:
SCOTT COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Scott County Sheriff Mike Lee released additional information about a shooting that killed an 18-year-old on Saturday, April 1.
According to Lee, no one has been charged in connection to the case at this time. He said the young man who fired the weapon also called 911 to report the accident and gave CPR until emergency crews arrived.
“We will make or finding to our district attorney who will make the determination if there should be any charges filed,” said Lee.

SCOTT COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Scott County Sheriff Mike Lee released additional information about a shooting that killed a teenager on Saturday, April 1.
According to Lee, the shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. on Line Creek Road in Morton.
The sheriff said a young man was holding a pistol that he believed was unloaded. The young man allegedly pulled the trigger, and the pistol fired one time.
The Scott County coroner said 18-year-old Cameron Pace Mohr was shot and killed. According to Lee, Mohr was shot in the neck.
The teen died from his injuries at Scott Regional Hospital in Morton.
Lee said deputies are interviewing witnesses, and the investigation is ongoing.

The Scott County coroner said a group of teens were hanging out around 2:30 a.m. on Line Creek Road when the shooting happened.
The victim was identified as 18-year-old Cameron Pace Mohr.
The coroner said he couldn’t release any more information about the shooting since it’s an active investigation.
