By Ken South Jul 21, 2021 | 4:59 AM

TONIGHT AND WEDNESDSAY: Clouds will be on the increase Tuesday evening through Wednesday morning. The clouds will keep our temperatures in the 70s overnight. A front will move into the state Wednesday with a 40% chance of scattered, mainly light showers. Rainfall totals will be less than a quarter inch. High temperatures will be in the mid to upper 80s with a light north breeze behind the front.

EXTENDED FORECAST: Rain chances will taper off Thursday morning. Thursday afternoon will be pleasant with high in the mid to upper 80s again under partly sunny skies. Low rain chances will return late Friday into Saturday. The chance of rain will be no better than 20% to 30%. Lows will be in the mid 60s and highs will stay in the upper 80s through the weekend.

THE TROPICS: Lee is a category 3 hurricane as it tracks north of the Caribbean Islands. Lee continues to track slowly, but will make a turn to the north mid-week. Then, the storm will begin to accelerate and bring rough surf along the east coast. Lee may eventually make landfall either in eastern Maine or Nova Scotia by this weekend. Margot has now also become a hurricane but will stay out in the central Atlantic. There is another tropical wave near the coast of Africa with a high chance for development.
