JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Authorities are investigating after a woman died in a house fire in Jackson.
The fire happened at a home on Lorraine Street on Tuesday, December 7. After working to contain the fire, Jackson firefighters discovered the body of 22-year-old Lisa Newman.
“She has been here for a while, and she was good spirits,” said Jermyrion Hutcherson, a friend of Newman. “I hat that happened to her, and I wish I could have been here to help her.”
According to Assistant Fire Chief Patrick Armon, no other injuries were reported. During a news conference on Thursday, authorities said the cause of the fire was arson.
