One of the first Black MHP troopers dies at 71

FORREST COUNTY, Miss. (WHLT) – Walter Crosby, the first Black man to serve as a Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) trooper, passed away. He was 71-years old.

According to the Forrest County coroner, Crosby died at Forrest General Hospital on Wednesday, December 8.

Crosby was born in 1950 and is survived by his six children and other relatives.
