LIST: Schools to release early due to severe weather on Feb. 17

LAUREL, Miss. (WHLT) – Due to the possibility of severe weather on Thursday, February 17, some schools will release students early.

Central Mississippi:

  • Ambition Preparatory Charter School – 1:45 p.m.
  • Canton Public School District – 12:00 p.m.
  • Choctaw Tribal Schools – 12:00 p.m.
  • Clinton Public School District – All afterschool athletic practices and competitions have been canceled
  • East Central Community College -12:00 p.m.
  • Holmes County Consolidated School District – 11:30 a.m.
  • Jackson Public Schools – All afterschool activities, programs & athletic events have been canceled. There are no changes to the regular school schedule.
  • Lawrence County Schools – 11:00 a.m.
  • Leake County Schools – 1:00 p.m.
  • Madison County Schools – All after school activities are canceled
  • McComb School District – Afterschool programs, athletic practices & events are canceled
  • Smith County Schools – 12:00 p.m.

Pine Belt:

  • Covington County School District
    • Collins Elementary and the Seminary schools will dismiss at 11:40 a.m.
    • Carver Middle School will dismiss at 11:50 a.m.
    • All other schools will dismiss at 12:00 p.m.
  • Laurel School District
    • Oak Park Elementary – 11:30 a.m.
    • Mason Elementary – 11:30 a.m.
    • Laurel Magnet School of the Arts – 12:00 p.m.
    • Laurel Upper Elementary – 12:00 p.m.
    • Laurel Middle School – 12:30 p.m.
    • Laurel High School – 12:45 p.m.
    • Laurel Education Center – 12:45 p.m.
