YAZOO CITY, Miss. (WJTV) – Former Police Chief Joey Head resigned from his position at the Yazoo City Police Department on Monday, April 11.
The Yazoo Herald reported the Board of Mayor and Aldermen accepted his resignation letter during a meeting. Captain Richard Brooks was appointed as interim police chief for the next 90 days or until a candidate is appointed before then.
According to the newspaper, Head was suspended for five days without pay on Monday, March 21 by the former city council. The former city board made no further action following his suspension.
