Body of Warren County child found in pond

UPDATE:

WARREN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace told Vicksburg Daily News that the child’s mother and her boyfriend were both charged with murder in connection to the child’s death.

Pace identified the suspects as Brooke Mallett, 25, and John Duke Walker, 22. They are being held without bond.

WARREN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said the body of a three-year-old child was found in a pond.

Vicksburg Daily News reported authorities received a call from a county resident about a five-year-old child at her home on Old Highway 27. When deputies arrived, the found the child had special needs and was not able to communicate.

Pace said deputies contacted the child’s mother, who was unaware that the five-year-old was missing. During this time, deputies discovered that a three-year-old was also missing from the same home.

According to the sheriff, deputies later located the three-year-old in a pond nearby. The child was pronounced dead at the scene by Warren County Coroner Doug Huskey.

Pace told the Vicksburg Daily News that the mother of the child and her acquaintance are being interviewed. The five-year-old is the custody of Child Protection Services (CPS).


WARREN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Warren County deputies said they are searching for a missing two-year-old boy.

According to a post on the department’s Facebook page, investigators described the boy as a white male with brown hair. He is nonverbal.

Investigators said the child was last seen Friday morning near Stenson Road and Old Highway 27. Authorities have not released any additional information.
