JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The City of Jackson has partnered with organizations to beautify parts of the metro area as part of the Stop Trashing Jackson Campaign.
From June 3 to June 7, the city will honor the life of Medgar Evers to mark the 60th anniversary of his assassination.
Organizations will clean up areas around the Evers home, as well as Medgar Evers Boulevard and Martin Luther King Drive.
“We should aim to do everything that improves our city, and we will benefit from the shared destiny of a much more beautiful place, prosperous place. A place that we can all enjoy calling home,” said Jackson Mayor Chokwe A. Lumumba.
Keep Jackson Beautiful said volunteers are welcome to participate and cleanup resources will be provided.
