COPIAH COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Severe storms moved through Mississippi early Sunday morning.

A WJTV 12 News viewer sent us a picture of the hail that fell in Gallman, which is located in Copiah County. The hail was about the size of a golf ball. There have been reports of hail damage to vehicles and homes in the county.

The storm also caused trees and power lines to fall in Copiah County. A WJTV 12 News team saw a tree that fell on top of a power line. Copiah County is reporting more than 800 power outages.

Betty Benton, who lives in Copiah County, said her power was back on for less than 24 hours before Sunday’s storm knocked it out.

“No light since Friday morning, and we finally got them back on yesterday around noon, and they went right back out this morning. I’m just worried about my fur babies because it gets so hot in the house. It was like 80, 90 degrees in the house with no way of cooling down,” she said.

Crews responded to the Rolling Hills community in Copiah County in order to restore power to neighbors in the area.

Entergy Mississippi is reporting thousands of power outages due to the storms that have moved through the state recently.
