Boil water notice issued for Old Pearl customers

SIMPSON COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – A boil water notice has been issued for all of the Old Pearl Community, located in Simpson County, due to a system-wide pressure loss.

According to officials, an electrical control failure occurred on Sunday, September 3, causing the controller to no refill the elevated storage tank. They started to receive reports of low to no water pressure at 1:00 a.m. on Monday, September 4.

By 4:00 a.m., official said they had started to rebuild pressure in the lines and are continuing to rebuild to full operational pressure.

Officials with the South West Rankin Water Association said the notice is for the following areas:

  • Old Pearl Road
  • McDonald Road
  • Lewis Road
  • Evans Road
  • Bass Road
  • Bennet Drive
  • Gatesville Road
  • Timber Farms Road
  • Dorman Drive
  • Joe Dear Road
  • H. Dear Road
  • B. Lewis Road
  • Wash Welch Road
  • Billy Joe Buckley Road
  • Hopewell Road
  • Old River Road
  • Jim Harris Road
  • Crisco Road after McDonald Road and all other adjoining roads

Officials said the boil water notice will expire Monday, September 11.
