Man arrested after firing shots, barricading himself inside Utica home

HINDS COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Hinds County deputies and SWAT responded to a home in Utica after a man barricaded himself inside.

Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones said the incident happened in the 6600 block of Highway 27 North on Wednesday, November 15.

Jones said the sheriff’s office received a call that the suspect, 35-year-old David Chase, was firing shots at passing drivers and brandishing a firearm. He later barricaded himself inside a trailer.

The sheriff said negotiators arrived at the scene to assist SWAT with the situation. Jones announced Chase was taken into custody before 9:30 p.m.
