PEARL, Miss. (WJTV) – One person was arrested in connection to a shooting and shoplifting incident that happened at a Dollar General store in Pearl.
Police said they received multiple calls about the shooting around 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 18. The incident happened at the Dollar General in the 600 block of South Pearson Road.
When officers arrived at the location, they were told the suspect shoplifted from the store and began shooting a firearm while heading outside. No injuries were reported.
During their investigation, Pearl police identified the suspect as 27-year-old Treasure Destiny Gayden, of Pearl. Gayden was arrested later that evening. Investigators said they recovered the firearm used in the incident, as well as the merchandise that was stolen from the Dollar General.
Gayden was charged with four counts of aggravated assault and one count of shoplifting. Gayden was taken to the Rankin County Jail.
