PEARL, Miss. (WJTV) – Leaders in the City of Pearl are searching for a new police chief.
This comes after Pearl Police Chief Dean Scott submitted his resignation effective January 18, 2024.
Frank Hutton, spokesman for the City of Pearl, said this is a personnel matter and no more information can be released.
On Friday, Mayor Jake Windham held a news conference to inform neighbors that the city will maintain discipline, and the department will continue to fight crime.
“Moving forward today, the Board of Aldermen and myself are committed to go out on a search and bring a chief in. Once that chief is established, he, himself, or she will provide an assistant chief of their choice and put before the board, and we will move forward,” the mayor said.
Scott was named the police chief for the city in 2018.
