JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – JXN Water officials announced the system is showing signs of stabilization with better pressure, lower water use and water production keeping up with demand.
As of Sunday, January 21, a handful of customers in areas with higher elevation have extremely low pressure or no pressure. Officials said these customers are located across the previously identified five zip codes.
Compared to Saturday, officials said the system saw customer water use decrease by 1.2 million gallons. However, the system is experiencing 8.5 million gallons over normal water demand.
According to JXN Water, new leaks are estimated at putting 2.5 million gallons of demand on the system. There were eight additional leaks reported since Saturday’s update, bringing the total to 111.
Officials said the 12,000 customers in the previously identified five zip codes in south and west Jackson are still under a boil water notice. They said water testing continues in hopes of lifting the notice early in the week.
Fourteen crews with JXN Water are working to make repairs at 80 locations on Sunday. They’re prioritizing repairs.
Lynch Street will be closed on Sunday as crews address a main break, but officials expect the road to reopen later in the day.
