JONES COUNTY, Miss. (WHLT) – Two people were injured during a house fire in Jones County.
Officials with the Jones County Fire Council said the fire happened at a home on Indian Springs Road in Laurel around 4:00 a.m. on Sunday, January 21.
When firefighters arrived at the location, they saw that the flames had spread throughout the front yard and along the side of the home.
According to officials, one resident said he was sleeping when his heater went off. As he got out of bed, he smelled smoke and found flames filling the living room area. He was able to escape from a back bedroom window and assisted the other two residents out of their bedroom window.
Two of the residents sustained moderate injuries. They were taken to a local hospital.
Officials said two vehicles were also damaged in the fire.
