PEARL, Miss. (WJTV) – Officials with the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) said three additional weather-related deaths have been reported.
The incidents occurred in Panola and Sunflower counties. One of the incidents in Panola County happened on Highway 51, and the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) is investigating the incident.
This brings the state’s total death toll to 11 since January 14 due to winter weather.
Additional deaths have been reported in Chickasaw, Humphreys, Leflore, Rankin, Sharkey, and Washington counties.
The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) continues to report ice on roadways in north Mississippi due to this week’s winter weather conditions.
