JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson police said a woman is facing a murder charge after she allegedly shot and killed her ex-boyfriend.

Deputy Chief Sequerna Banks said the shooting happened on Watersview Drive on Friday, January 19.

According to Banks, the suspect, 49-year-old Allison Ballard, shot her ex-boyfriend at the location. He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Ballard was arrested and initially charged with domestic aggravated assault.

On Sunday, January 21, detectives learned that the victim died from his injuries at the hospital. Banks said the charges against Ballard will be upgraded to murder.
