Woman dies during Jackson house fire on Bristol Boulevard

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson firefighters said a woman died during a house fire on Wednesday, January 24.

The fire happened at a home in the 100 block of Bristol Boulevard shortly after 8:00 a.m.

Officials said the woman’s body was recovered by firefighters. They said the Hinds County coroner will make the positive identification of the woman, as well as determine the official cause of death.


JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson firefighters responded to a house fire on Wednesday, January 24.

The fire happened at a home in the 100 block of Bristol Boulevard shortly after 8:00 a.m.

People who lived in the home told firefighters that they smelled gas and then heard an explosion.

“Firefighters were advised that at least one person had exited the home prior to their arrival. The person who exited home advised firefighters that at least one other person was still inside of the home. This at this time, the firefighters are still working to confirm or deny that there is still active fire at the house, and the firefighters are actually going through the debris to make that determination right now,” said Deputy Fire Chief Cleotha Sanders.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
