BILOXI, Miss. (WJTV) – Biloxi police said a woman was arrested for driving under the influence after a crash killed one person last year.

On Sunday, November 26, 2023, officers responded to the area of Popps Ferry Road and Tommy Munro Drive after a two-vehicle collision.

The driver of one of the vehicles was injured and transported to an area hospital after complaints of pain.

Police said the driver of the second vehicle, 21-year-old Evelynn Patton, of Moss Point, had to be extricated from the car. She was taken to an area hospital for treatment of significant injuries. Officers said the passenger was also trapped in the car and had to be extricated. The passenger died at the scene.

Investigators obtained search warrants for Patton’s blood, and it was sent to the Mississippi Forensics Laboratory to be tested. After it was tested, police said Patton’s blood alcohol content was greater than the legal limit.
