Canton man accused of killing wife, reporting crime next day

CANTON, Miss. (WJTV) – Canton police arrested man who allegedly killed his wife and reported the crime the following day.

Canton Police Chief Otha Brown said the department received a call just before 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 30 from 53-year-old Myles Johnson.

Brown said Johnson reported that his wife, 53-year-old Kristie Johnson, had been shot.

When an officer arrived at the home on East Fulton Street, the victim was found on a bed. She had been shot once. The police chief said Johnson was detained at the location.

Investigators said Johnson admitted to getting into a fight with his wife on Monday, January 29. They believe the shooting happened on Monday.

Johnson was charged with murder and booked into the Madison County Jail.
