BRANDON, Miss. (WJTV) – Brandon police are investigating after two people were killed in a shooting overnight.
Brandon Police Chief Joseph French said the shooting happened before 2:00 a.m. on January 30. He said officers received multiple phone calls about gunshots being fired in the area of Mary Myles Drive and Mary Crain Circle.
When officers arrived at the location, they found two deceased individuals. French said they both appeared to have died from gunshot wounds.
The police chief identified the victims as 18-year-old Montrell Briggs, of Florence, and 18-year-old JaMarques Patterson, of Pearl.
French said a juvenile suspect was arrested in connection to the deaths of the two victims. He said additional charges of shooting into an occupied vehicle and aggravated assault are pending.
