GREENE COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – A Greene County deputy was injured after being struck by a suspect’s vehicle.
Bailey Martin, press secretary for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (DPS), said the incident happened on Thursday, February 1, 2024.
Martin said Greene County deputies were involved in a chase with the suspect when one deputy was struck by the suspect’s vehicle. The deputy had non-life-threatening injuries.
According to investigators, the suspect exited the vehicle with a weapon, and the deputies fired shots. The suspect then surrendered to authorities at the scene.
Martin said agents with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) are investigating the officer-involved shooting. They will share their findings with the local district attorney and/or the Attorney General’s Office.
