LAMAR COUNTY, Miss. (WHLT) – A Lumberton teacher was one of the two victims who died during a crash in Lamar County.
The crash happened at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 31 on Highway 11 in Lamar County.
Officials with the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) said a 2015 Ford F-150 was traveling south on Highway 11 when it collided with a 2018 Nissan Frontier that was traveling north on the highway.
Troopers said the driver of the Ford, 30-year-old Christopher Lewis, of Lumberton, and the driver of the Nissan, 59-year-old Susan Copeland, of Hattiesburg, died at the scene.
Officials with the Lamar County School District said Copeland was a teacher at Lumberton High School. A vigil will be held for Copeland on Friday, February 2 at 6:00 p.m. at Lumberton Elementary School.

This crash remains under investigation by MHP.
