JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The family of a man who was killed in the crossfire of a drive-by shooting spoke out on Thursday.

Anthony Davis, Jr., 23, was shot and killed after suspects in two vehicles were firing shots at one another near North State Street and Cedars of Lebanon Drive on Monday, January 29.

One of the vehicles involved, a black Chrysler 300, was recovered on Tuesday, January 30 at Autumn Place Apartments. No one was with the vehicle.

Davis’ mother, Jennifer Davis, described her son as a family man who enjoyed work and providing for his loved ones. He had just celebrated his birthday just days before he was killed.

“We fight against powers and principalities and rulers of the darkness of this world. So even to the people that did that, you know, I can’t hate them. I even forgive them. And I don’t even know who they are because I know they weren’t trying to kill my son. I know they weren’t. But at the end of the day, look what happened because of your senseless act,” she said.

Davis was a father to three-month-old Kingston Davis. He was also a local DJ.

Anyone with information about the fatal shooting can contact the Jackson Police Department (JPD) or Crime Stoppers at 601-355-TIPS (8477).
