HINDS COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – One person has died after a crash on U.S. 49 in Hinds County.

Officials with the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) said the crash happened just before 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, February 4. According to troopers, the one-vehicle crash happened on U.S. 49 North near Pinehaven Drive.

MHP officials said a 2008 Ford, driven by 53-year-old Parrish Lancaster, was traveling north on the highway when it ran off the road and collided with a tree. Lancaster received fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC).

This crash remains under investigation by MHP.
