JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Capitol police are searching for a man after a chase ended in a crash.
Investigators said the chase happened just after 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 6 after officers tried to stop a vehicle in the area of Ellis Avenue. Police said the driver then them into a subdivision, and they lost sight of the vehicle.
Bailey Martin, press secretary for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (DPS), said officers spotted the vehicle 15 minutes later and another pursuit began.
Martin said the driver struck a vehicle in the intersection of County Line Road and Highway 49 North, causing a collision between officers and that vehicle. No injuries were reported. Martin said the suspect continued to McLean Road where he wrecked his vehicle and ran away from the scene.
Officers detained a female passenger in the vehicle. Martin said a two-year-old was also inside the vehicle.
The driver was identified as 30-year-old Jarvis Crump. Anyone with information on his whereabouts can contact Capitol police at 601-359-3125.
