JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – One person was injured after falling from the Fortification Street bridge over Interstate 55 South in Jackson.

The incident happened around 1:15 p.m. on Friday, February 9.

Bailey Martin, press secretary for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (DPS), said Capitol police responded to the incident. She said the individual sustained multiple injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital.

Capitol police interviewed multiple witnesses at the scene. At this time, Martin said no foul play is suspected.
