BAY SPRINGS, Miss. (WHLT) – A U.S. soldier, who was killed in a drone attack while deployed to the Middle East, was laid to rest on Wednesday in Bay Springs, Mississippi.

Dozens of family, friends and veterans paid their respects to Sgt. Breonna Moffett. She was buried at New Zion Church Cemetery.

The Bay Springs native served as a horizontal construction engineer with the 718th Engineer Company.

Moffett was one of three U.S. soldiers who were killed during a drone attack in Jordan on January 28, 2024. Her family said they’re devastated by the loss, but they’re thankful for her sacrifice to serve her country.

“She was a great person. She had an outspoken personality, always good with kids and crew with people. She’s just a great person to be around. It’s a sad day for us, but things happen and you just say, and I wish she will be missed,” said Eddie Page, Jr., Moffett’s cousin.

“She served this country well, and we thank her for that. It means a lot,” said Kelly Grayson, Moffett’s cousin.

The other soldiers who were killed were Sgt. William Jerome Rivers and Spc. Kennedy Ladon Sanders.
