MHP troopers find 1,200 pounds of marijuana in van

PONTOTOC COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Troopers with the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) arrested a driver after discovering 1,200 pounds of marijuana inside a vehicle.

On February 25, troopers stopped a vehicle in Pontotoc County for careless driving. The driver told troopers that he was traveling from California to deliver medical supplies to a location in North Carolina.

Troopers said a K9 made a positive alert on the van. They discovered 1,200 pounds of marijuana, 5,500 suspected items of drug paraphernalia, and 20 pounds of cannabis concentrate concealed in a vault at the back of the van.

The unidentified driver was charged with trafficking marijuana and distribution of paraphernalia.
