NATCHEZ, Miss. (WJTV) – A status hearing for a Natchez mother charged with murder of her infant has been set.
The Natchez Democrat reported the hearing for Chelsea Anding has been set for March 19, 2024. She was charged with second-degree murder after her nine-month-old child died.
Anding was initially arrested for felony child abuse on Wednesday, February 21.
Police said the infant was taken to Merit Health Natchez with an injury to the back of the head and later airlifted to Children’s of Mississippi in Jackson.
According to investigators, the charge against Anding was upgraded during her arraignment on Friday, February 23. Her bond was set at $500,000.
Police said Anding had four other children under six at the home. They said the children have been removed from the home until Child Protective Services (CPS) completes their investigation.
