“We know that a lack of transportation plays a detrimental role on many social outcomes of residents,” said Mayor Chokwe A. Lumumba. “So, as a city, we have efforted to significantly improve our public transportation system to accommodate as many residents as possible to improve access to healthcare, employment security and healthy food options. Today is a great day for the City of Jackson and I’d like to express my gratitude to the Planning Department for their hard work in making this a reality.”

“The redesign of the bus network and new accommodations are the result of a comprehensive review of the needs of our JTRAN riders,” said Deputy Director of Transportation, Christine Welch. “We have made the system more accessible and efficient, and as a result, we believe it will improve the quality of life of Jackson residents who rely on our public transportation system.”
