MAGEE, Miss. (WJTV) – Magee police are investigating after a 19-year-old was shot and killed at a hotel.

The incident happened just after 9:00 a.m. on Monday, March 4.

Magee Police Chief Shane Little said investigators identified the victim as 19-year-old DeShun Williams. He died from an apparent gunshot wound.

During the investigation, Little said the victim’s brother, Robert Williams III, was taken to the police department. He was questioned about the shooting and later charged.

Robert Williams allegedly told investigators that they were staying in the hotel room when he was handling the gun, and it discharged. The bullet struck the victim.

The police chief said Robert Williams was charged with manslaughter-culpable negligence.
