Pearl police arrest motorcyclist after chase into Jackson

PEARL, Miss. (WJTV) – Pearl police arrested a motorcyclist after a chase into Jackson Monday afternoon.

According to detectives, a Pearl police officer observed a motorcycle with no tag traveling at a high rate of speed near Highway 80 and Bass Pro Drive. The officer attempted to stop the motorcyclist, but police said he refused to stop.

Police said the motorcyclist, 30-year-old Justin Gatlin, of Jackson, led the officer onto Interstate 55 and took the High Street exit. They said Gatlin lost control of the motorcycle and wrecked.

Police said Gatlin sustained minor injuries, but he’s expected to be okay.

Gatlin has been charged with felony fleeing, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, reckless driving, no tag and no insurance.
