Five arrested for stealing copper lines from Byram AT&T sites

BYRAM, Miss. (WJTV) – Byram police arrested five suspects for allegedly stealing copper lines from AT&T sites.

Over the past month, police said they received reports from AT&T in reference to copper lines being cut from different sites, which caused customers to be without service in the Byram area.

The estimated value of the stolen copper was near $16,000. Upon further investigation, detectives said they recovered an estimated value of $10,000 in stolen copper wiring and arrested the five suspects. Police said the recovered stolen copper was returned to AT&T.

The following suspects were arrested:

  • Sean Paul Bender, 40, of Byram – Arrested for 3 Counts of Grand Larceny
  • David Scott Evans, 57, of Greenville – Arrested for 3 Counts of Grand Larceny
  • Michael Levi Esposito, 47, of Byram – Arrested for 3 Counts of Grand Larceny
  • Cheryl Leigh Welch, 43, of Byram – Arrested for 3 Counts of Grand Larceny and Receiving Stolen Property
  • Nicholas Adam Heidel, 43, of Byram – Arrested for 3 Counts of Grand Larceny, Receiving Stolen Property, and Possession of Firearm by a Convicted Felon
