BYRAM, Miss. (WJTV) – Byram police said six teenagers led officers on a chase on Sunday, March 17.
The incident happened around 4:30 a.m. in the area of Siwell Road near the West Frontage Road.
Byram police said officers observed a Nissan Altima with a dealership paper tag. When they tried to conduct a traffic stop, investigators said the driver fled at a high rate of speed towards Terry Road.
Police said the chase ended on Gary Road when the suspects’ vehicle collided into a fire hydrant in a residential lawn.
Investigators said the six teenagers fled from the vehicle, and two were arrested at the scene. They said the other four, accompanied by their parents, later turned themselves in to Byram police.
The driver was charged with felony fleeing and other traffic infractions.
Byram police said it was later discovered that the vehicle belonged to the driver’s parents and was driven from Brandon to Byram by the juvenile.
