BYRAM, Miss. (WJTV) – Byram police arrested a man, who’s known as “Pistol Pete,” for allegedly shooting another man in the leg.
The shooting happened at a home on Turtle Road on Friday, March 22.
Byram police said a man was shot in the left thigh at the location. The victim was taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in Jackson to be treated for his injury.
During their investigation, Byram police identified the suspect as 42-year-old Peter James Hauck, of Pearl. He was arrested on Saturday, March 23 in Rankin County with assistance from Richland police and Rankin County deputies.
Hauck is being held at the Hinds County Detention Center until his initial appearance in court. Police said he has been charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Byram police said the investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are pending.
