Four Yazoo County correctional officers arrested in recent escape

YAZOO COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – The sheriff of Yazoo County announced four correctional officers were arrested in connection to the recent escapes from the jail.

Sheriff Jeremy McCoy said the officers, three men and one woman, were arrested on Wednesday, March 27. They are facing conspiracy and accessory to committing a crime charges.

McCoy said the officers are no longer with the county, and they are being held at a different facility.

A reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of a Yazoo County escapee.

Officials said Glen Bassett escaped from the Yazoo County Regional Correctional Facility on March 24 and is still on the run.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts can call 662-746-8477. There is a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to Bassett’s arrest.

Four other inmates have been captured in connection to the escape.

Officials with the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were driving to the jail on March 24 and noticed an inmate running back into the facility inside the fence.

Once the deputies entered the jail, they notified the correctional officers of what they saw. The officers conducted a headcount and discovered that five inmates were missing.

An unidentified inmate was captured on Sunday. Marlon Willis, Marcus Green and Deliuwon Stowers were captured on Monday, according to deputies.
