JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The Mississippi Senate Medicaid Committee passed their version of Medicaid expansion on Wednesday.

The Senate version differs greatly from the House bill that passed earlier this Legislative session.

The Senate plan would cover those aged 19 to 64 making up to 100% of the federal poverty level compared to the House version of 138%. It includes a roughly 30-hour weekly work requirement.

An estimated 80,000 Mississippians would be eligible for coverage.

The Senate faces a deadline of April 10 to pass this version off of the Senate floor.
