Two Rankin County teens arrested for shooting death of 14-year-old in Jackson

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson police announced two teenagers were arrested in connection to the shooting death of a 14-year-old.

Detective Tommie Brown said Maxle Mooneyham, 16, and John Foote, 17, both of Rankin County, were arrested on Wednesday, March 27. The teenagers were arrested with assistance from Rankin County deputies and Pearl police.

Brown said Mooneyham and Foote have both been charged with murder.

Jackson police said Cameron Horne-Crook, 14, was shot and killed in the 3500 block of Ridgecrest Drive on Monday, March 25. He was shot multiple times.

Horne-Crook was a student at Northwest Rankin Middle School. The Rankin County School District released the following statement to WJTV 12 News.

As we mourn the tragic loss of one of our Northwest Rankin Middle School students, Cameron Horne Crook, our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time. RCSD Counselors are available to support our students and staff as we navigate through this challenging period. We extend our deepest condolences to all affected by this devastating loss.
