JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The Mississippi Senate passed their version of Medicaid expansion on Thursday, March 28. The bill passed 36-16.
The Senate version differs greatly from the House bill that passed earlier this Legislative session.
The Senate bill would cover those aged 19 to 64 making up to 100% of the federal poverty level compared to the House version of 138%. It includes a roughly 30-hour weekly work requirement.
An estimated 80,000 Mississippians would be eligible for coverage.
The bill now moves to the Mississippi House for consideration.
