JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson firefighters responded to a large fire at an energy plant.

The fire happened at Jaxon Energy, LLC, on Friday, March 29. The facility is located on Industrial Drive.

Assistant Fire Chief Patrick Armon said the building was not on fire, but flames were coming from a section of pipelines running into the plant.

Armon said fire teams have cut the source of the fire off, and they are containing the fire as pipe pressure decreases.

According to the EPA, Jaxon Energy processes lubricating oils and greases. The agency said 4,200 people reside within one mile of the plant.
