Man sentenced for fatal shooting of Jackson DoorDash driver

HINDS COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – A man was convicted for the shooting death of a DoorDash driver in Jackson.

Hinds County District Attorney Jody Owens said Shadrick Simmons pled guilty to second-degree murder in connection to the death of Corey Price.

On November 2, 2022, Jackson police said Price was delivering an order when Simmons attempted to steal the vehicle belonging to Price. They said a fight ensued between Price, Simmons and others, which ended in the fatal shooting of Price.

Simmons was sentenced to 40 years, with 17 suspended and 23 to serve in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC). He was also ordered to serve five years of post release supervision.
