Man, teen arrested for shooting death of 80-year-old Jackson woman

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – A man and a teenager have been arrested in connection to the shooting death of an 80-year-old Jackson woman.

Detective Tommie Brown said Alex Bush, 16, and Ramon Thompson, 20, have been charged with murder and drive-by shooting.

The shooting happened around 11:30 p.m. on Monday, April 1 in the 3800 block of Nichols Boulevard.

The Hinds County coroner identified the victim as 80-year-old Annie Peoples.

Police said Peoples and her sons were lying in the front room of their home sleeping. They said a dark colored vehicle pulled up to the residence, three men got out, and they began firing shots into the home. According to investigators, Peoples was shot in the back of the head.

Police believe the suspects were targeting an individual who was not at the residence at the time of the shooting.
