MADISON COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – The Mississippi Supreme Court upheld the convictions of the man who was sentenced for the shooting death of a Party City manager.

Joshua Archie appealed his convictions, arguing that the trial court erred by denying two of his requested jury instructions, that unauthenticated evidence was wrongfully presented, and that his trial counsel was ineffective.

The court ruled that they found no error and affirmed Archie’s convictions.

Archie was found guilty of capital murder and conspiracy to commit armed robbery in August 2021 after he was tried for a third time. Prosecutors said Archie was the main suspect in the fatal armed robbery that took place at Party City in Ridgeland in 2012. The victim was store manager Robert Adams.

Archie was sentenced to life without parole on the capital murder charge and five years on the conspiracy to commit armed robbery charge. The state did not seek the death penalty in the case.
