3rd suspect arrested for shooting death of 15-year-old girl in Hattiesburg

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WHLT) – Hattiesburg police announced a third person has been arrested in connection to the shooting death of a 15-year-old girl.

Police said 17-year-old Bryan “Lil 6” Brown, of Columbia, was arrested with assistance from Lamar County deputies and the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force.

Brown has been charged with first degree murder. He was transported and booked into the Forrest County Jail.

Hattiesburg police said Javan Stovall, 20, of Columbia, and Nicholas Odutola, 17, of Lamar County, were both previously arrested in connection to the case.

Investigators said 15-year-old Janya Lumzy was shot and killed around 4:45 a.m. on Monday, March 25 at Pineview Apartments in the 1500 block of Country Club Road.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found the 15-year-old unresponsive outside the stairwell of the apartment complex. Lumzy was a student at Hattiesburg High School.

Police said all of the suspects allegedly involved in the fatal shooting have been arrested.
