JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – U.S. Representative Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) requested the U.S. Department of Justice to open an investigation into the disappearance of a Belhaven resident.

Dau Mabil was last seen around noon on March 25, 2024, walking near North Jefferson Street. He was wearing electric blue Adidas joggers with a white stripe on the side, an orange long-sleeve shirt, and a yellow hoodie wrapped around his waist.

Since then, several attempts to locate his whereabouts have been made involving the community, the Jackson Police Department (JPD) and Capitol police.

“After receiving calls from concerned constituents, I am committed to leveraging all resources to support a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mr. Mabil’s disappearance. Therefore, I urge the Department of Justice to work with state and local officials,” said Thompson.

There is a reward for up to $2,500 for information that leads to the location of Mabil. Anyone with information on his whereabouts can contact Capitol police at 601-359-3125.
