Final inmate who escaped from Yazoo County jail captured

YAZOO COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – The final inmate who escaped from the Yazoo County Regional Correctional Facility has been captured.

The Yazoo County Sheriff’s Office announced on Wednesday, April 17 that Glen Bassett has been captured.

Yazoo County Sheriff Jeremy McCoy said Bassett and four other inmates escaped from the facility on March 24.

Officials said deputies were driving to the jail on March 24 and noticed an inmate running back into the facility inside the fence. Once the deputies entered the jail, they notified the correctional officers of what they saw. The officers conducted a headcount and discovered that five inmates were missing.

An unidentified inmate was captured on March 24. Marlon Willis, Marcus Green and Deliuwon Stowers were captured on March 25, according to deputies.

McCoy announced on March 27 that four correctional officers were arrested in connection to the escapes. They are facing conspiracy and accessory to committing a crime charges.
