JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The Mississippi House and Senate conferees on Medicaid expansion held their first public negotiations on their differing plans to provide health insurance to working Mississippians.
The House conferees, led by House Medicaid Committee Chairwoman Missy McGee, offered a compromise plan during negotiations.
Their compromise consists of a hybrid Medicaid expansion plan that would keep those between 0% and 99% of the federal poverty level on managed care organizations.
Those between 100% and 138% of the federal poverty level would be left on the federal insurance exchange, with the state paying for individuals premiums and co-pays.
Roughly 200,000 individuals would be impacted through the hybrid plan.
The Senate offered no compromise plan, but they mentioned they are willing to review the House compromise and data provided.
