No bond for man charged in O’Bannon Drive homicide

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The man, who was arrested in connection to a fatal shooting on O’Bannon Drive in Jackson, appeared in court on Tuesday, April 23.

During a hearing, a judge ruled that Martine Dewayne Maberry poses a danger to the community. He was denied bond.

Officials with the City of Pearl said Maberry was stopped by a Pearl police officer on I-20 at U.S. 49 on Thursday, March 14 for a traffic violation. The officer discovered Mayberry was wanted for murder in Jackson, and he was arrested.

The shooting happened in the 4200 block of O’Bannon Drive on Saturday, March 9. Detective Tommie Brown said the victim was shot multiple times at the location and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Maberry has been charged with murder and is being held in the Hinds County Detention Center.
